The UNDERWORLD project wrap-up meeting was held in PLOCAN on the 31st of May, as part of the dissemination activities among researchers and interested companies of the sector. The objective of this meeting was to present the results of the UNDERWORLD project, to explain the potential users of the systems developed, with a view to stimulating lines of co-operation and future applications for the modem systems developed in the project.

UNDERWORLD project results were submitted at “XXXI Simposium Nacional de la Unión Científica Internacional de Radio”, URSI 2016 in Madrid.

UNDERWORLD project results were submitted at Underwater Communications and Networking Conference "UComms 2016” from 30 August to 1 September 2016 in Lerici (Italy).

The project has addressed a first contact with the propagation of electromagnetic fields for underwater monitoring. A full detail about the measurement setup can be found in "Experimental testbed for seawater channel characterization" Pablo Mena et al. (2016).

A total of 24 measurement sessions were carried out until May 2016. Firstly in controlled environment and secondly in shallow sea.

Apertura Evento UNDERWORLD

On Tuesday June 23, from 9:00 to 13:00, was held an awareness-raising session to the major observer bodies and other interested entities of the UNDERWORLD project at the headquarters of the Canary Islands Oceanic Platform (PLOCAN).

After the first measurement campaign of the UNDERWOLRD Project, the second measurement campaign presented as its main objective to verify the behavior of the submarine channel in the sea, both through static measures and dynamic measures.

The first step in the UNDERWORLD project is "Channel Characterization". It consists on measuring, defining and characterizing the underwater channel, in order to find out its behavior for sure, since at the moment there is no standardized model for this type of communications.

One of the objectives of the UNDERWORLD project is to promote an effective communication within the scientific community. As part of this strategy, the project webpage represents an important way to communicate the project progress and results.
